Thomas R. Dolven

Tom Dolven, one of the firm’s founders, was killed in a skiing accident on February 20, 2005, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Tom was an exceptional lawyer and will be deeply missed by our firm.

RESUME OF THOMAS R. DOLVEN

Tom obtained his Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University in 1985, and previously obtained a Bachelor of Science from University of Colorado in 1981 with a Marketing major.

Tom was admitted to practice in the State of Colorado in 1985; with the United States District Court, District of Colorado in 1985; and with the United States Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit in 1986.

He received many awards during his distinguished career including the American Jurisprudence Award. Tom was a member of the American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association, Colorado Defense Lawyers Association, and Defense Research Institute. He represented insureds, self-insureds and individuals in areas of construction defect, products liability, premises liability, professional liability, automobile accident litigation and insurance coverage analysis. Tom had extensive experience trying more than thirty cases to verdict.

Tom also contributed to the legal community with publications and speaking engagements including “Rural Landowner and Lessee Liability Issues,” presented to the Colorado Young Farmers Association and the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association in 1996. He was a Featured Speaker of Lorman Education Services Continuing Legal Education Seminar, Landowner and Lessee Liability and Insurance in Colorado in 1995. Tom published “Grazing Leases—Liability for the Unwary,” in the May 1995 Colorado Rancher and Farmer.
